Job Description

Capita Technology and Software Solutions (TSS) are looking for a Systems Administrator for the ENNI Managed Service contract in Northern Ireland. The role is Home-Based within the UK, you will work within the Education sector delivering and supporting the central infrastructure that underpins the managed services that we provide.


What you will be doing:

  • Maintain the overall health of the managed service infrastructure that comprises various Windows server architecture and LINUX environments.
  • Responsible for the overall server administration of internal systems and the associated Managed Services contracts – both physical and virtual environments.
  • Manage fault calls generated from alerts and ensuring accurate updates applied to the fault management system and ensuring subsequent escalation of calls if required.
  • Releasing software updates when required ensuring successful deployment.
  • Active Directory monitoring, maintenance, and administration.     
  • Ensuring a consistent approach to Security and Threat management in server estate for all Managed Services contracts and internal support systems
  • Manage and maintain server estates using utilities provided to ensure Patch levels are maintained and as part of this process ensuring same deployment has no impact on current infrastructure through effective testing. 

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience of Microsoft Windows Server administration in current or previous role.
  • Experience in a large multi-site, enterprise environment including an understanding of Enterprise Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Detailed knowledge of the configuration and management of Microsoft WSUS or SCCM (System Centre Configuration Manager)
  • Experience working with backup software installation and support
  • Experience of antivirus and threat management software installation, configuration and management (Ideally Symantec SEP product range)
  • Experience of managing and maintaining virtual environments using VMWare/ESX/HyperV and knowledge of client provisioning using virtualization products
  • Experience of managing alerting products

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of a major scripting language to assist in automation of system administrative tasks across large server estate
  • Vmware Certification (VCP)
  • Microsoft Hyper-V Certification
  • Knowledge of managing and maintaining DELL/EMC storage
  • VxBlock systems
