Where could you join us?

Life and pensions

The life and pensions team provides trusted, flexible support to our clients across the pensions, life and general insurance industries. We have a secondment team on hand to offer expertise within an ever changing industry, and to help businesses evolve while reducing any negative impacts on their customers.

As actuaries, we support a huge variety of projects from financial reporting (IFRS17) to modelling and data management, investigating system failures, policy remediation, regulatory changes and more. That means a good deal of scope to expand your experience of clients and their challenges. You’ll find a supportive environment, where you’re given the independence and responsibility you need to grow, alongside access to fully-funded study, mentorship and ongoing training.

Pensions actuarial and insurance actuarial

Our actuarial consultants support the pensions teams in looking after over 6 million members, across some 600 pension schemes of all shapes and sizes. We’re transforming the way we work by listening to both our clients and our people, so that we can understand what we do well and how we can do better – as a result our clients feel positive about the service we provide, and that we deliver timely and quality advice.

Our people tell us they see a future with us as they feel confident they can progress, are able to reach their goals and will be supported by each other. And it shows, because in 2021 alone, 10% of our team celebrated significant service anniversaries with us. With us, you can get involved with technical training to support your career, benefit from our mutual mentoring program and be supported to progress with our twice-yearly promotion process.

Typical roles

In this role, you’ll assist scheme actuaries, senior consultants and analysts with advice on a portfolio of pension schemes within our pensions consulting area. Your work may also include providing scheme actuary services to smaller clients.

You could join us as an actuarial analyst in either of our main areas – in life and pensions, or in consulting. In the life and pensions area, you’d be part of the actuarial solutions team, sitting within the specialist services function, which is part of our Insurance and Benefits division. Here you’d be involved with the delivery of outsourced operational services, system and process change activity and client specific deliverables.

As part of pensions consulting, you’d sit within the Actuarial Technical Centre (ATC). They look after triennial valuations and other funding updates, individual member calculations, preparation of accounting numbers and actuarial costings. Here, you’ll find study support to sit the examinations of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

This is a great opportunity if you’re looking for entry into an actuarial career, and offers the support and development you need to progress at this stage. You could also choose to study for the actuarial exams, and we’ll support you financially, with study and exam leave and with help from your colleagues and line manager.

Our qualified actuaries lead the way in the continuous improvement of our secondment model within life and pensions, providing the highest quality services for our clients. You’ll lead on the most technically challenging projects, performing tasks accurately and in line with established guidelines, procedures and actuarial principles.

You’ll be accountable for the design and implementation of solutions, considering business strategy and planning initiatives, as well as providing review and sign-off for team service/projects. And as a leader, you’ll coach and mentor other team members, as well as manage the team and projects.

As a fully qualified actuary within our pensions consulting area, you could act as a scheme actuary, corporate actuary or senior consultant to a portfolio of pensions schemes where you’ll own the client relationship.

You’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of pension schemes within our pensions consulting area. Our senior actuarial consultants are trusted as scheme actuary to over 200 pension schemes. We partner with our trustees and are a team with industry-leading actuarial skills and the bandwidth to help trustees tackle the core legal and regulatory responsibilities they must meet.

Our senior analysts lead, contribute to and oversee actuarial projects and deliverables for our clients within life and pensions at Capita. You’ll manage all stakeholders appropriately and professionally while planning and prioritising deliverables for assigned projects.

It’ll be your role to design, propose and implement actuarial solutions, while also seeking out further opportunities for work with our clients. As an actuarial student, you’ll be provided with a competitive study support package to help you progress through the exams and advance your career.
