As the Quality Improvement Manager you will evaluate the quality of education across the Fire Service College (FSC) apprenticeship and commercial courses, through the implementation of the quality improvement strategy. You will work with others to drive quality improvements across the learner journey from enrolment to achievement ensuring compliance with our regulatory bodies including the ESFA, Ofsted, ISO, Awarding Organisations and Matrix requirements.

This is a Hybrid role with average of 3 days a week required onsite.

Job Description

What you’ll be doing:

  • Streamlining Processes: Eliminate complexity in quality business processes for better value and efficiency in Apprenticeships and commercial courses.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify trends and process variations to establish and monitor a continuous improvement plan.
  • Supporting Material Development: Collaborate with teams to create new support materials, including training, reporting, and system enhancements.
  • Quality Management: Manage and achieve Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) activities and ensure Quality KPI targets are met.
  • Cross-Divisional Collaboration: Lead cross-divisional teams to drive impactful process changes and improve business outputs.
  • Governance Reporting: Prepare and present monthly governance board reports, addressing critical challenges and Quality KPI outcomes.
  • Specialist Observations: Work with Lead IQA to ensure effective subject specialist observations and action plans that drive improvement.
  • Curriculum Enhancement: Collaborate with curriculum teams to promote health and safety, diversity and inclusion, personal development, and essential skills within the curriculum.

What we’re looking for:

  • Fully conversant with Ofsted Education Inspection Framework 2019 ensuring these standards are fully embedded with all delivery and programme development.
  • Full teaching qualification (PGCE, DTLLS, Cert Ed or equivalent)
  • Level 2 English and Maths qualifications (highly desirable)
  • D32/33/34 or A1/ V1 or TAQA 3/4 qualification
  • Experience of leading face to face and remote observations and making judgments in line with the standards identified in the current Education Inspection Framework.
  • Knowledge of current thinking regarding effective pedagogy, best practice and teaching and learning research and the impact of these on the quality of learning.
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring individuals to improve standards.
  • A proven track record in managing internal quality assurance teams.

About Fire Service College and Funded Learning:

The Fire Service College (FSC) is a world-renowned further education training college that provides a range of resilience focused courses and programmes ranging from apprenticeships to fully accredited qualifications. On a 300-acre site FSC provides both practical and classroom-based learning in addition to remote/customer site delivered courses. FSC courses and programmes are accredited with BAC, Skills for Justice, Highfield, City & Guilds, Pearson, IQ, Institution for Fire Engineers and Proboard/NFPA. Customers range from fire and rescue services, police forces, ambulance services, the military, various commercial organisations to individuals who wish to further their careers. FSC attracts learners from international fire and rescue services from the Middle East and across Europe.
