Keeping our armed forces running smoothly as a part-time military medical examiner
This role is pivotal to the Royal Air Force (RAF) in support of its recruiting operation delivering an exceptional candidate experience throughout an inclusive recruitment process.
You’ll be carrying out efficient medical screenings at a variety of locations in the North of the UK, by making sure the right candidates pass assessment and contribute to the recruitment of quality people in sufficient numbers to maintain the operational capability of the Royal Air Force today and in the future. Working alongside a dedicated team of fellow medical examiners and other clinical staff, your work will contribute directly to our national security effort and make a huge difference in the local community. This role will be working part-time across 2 days, a total of 15 hours per week. You will need to be flexible to travel around the North of UK, could be two different locations per week. The locations to be covered range from Dundee, Hexam, Doncaster, Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Southport, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Newcastle.
Job Description
What you’ll be doing:
- Conducting clinical work, including face-to-face medical assessments assessed against the Tri-service entry medical standard
- Assessing candidate’s medical records as part of the medical assessment process
- Updating the Capita Service Entry Medical Report (SEMR) with the findings and results of the candidate medical assessment including medical records and the face to face examination
- Assessing the clinical conditions of candidates to determine their fitness for entry into the Royal Air Force
- Making recommendations to the Royal Air Force colleagues on the medical suitability of the candidates
- Maintaining GMC registration, licence to practise, accreditation and skill mix
What we’re looking for:
- A fully GMC qualified medical practitioner with licence to practise
- IT literacy and experience with Microsoft programmes
- Flexibility to travel, with a full UK driver’s licence
- Excellent organisational skills
- The ability to work effectively and efficiently to tight deadlines
- An effective communicator in person and on paper
