We are now seeking a HSE Advisor to join busy HSE Team. The successful candidate will be part of our Local Public Services HSE Team, focusing primarily on the Glasgow University Projects, monitoring the delivery of effective HSE, business systems, risk management and resilience.

This is an on-site role based out of Glasgow University. This is a 12 month FTC contract.

Job Description

What you'll be doing :

  • You will be accountable for all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) related activities within your respective Business Unit as directed by the Senior Manager – Health and Safety .
  • You are responsible for all ensuring that all sites and field workers within your Business Unit are compliant with HSE requirements.
  • You will manage HSE Champions to ensure implementation and sustainment of the Capita HSE Policy, HSE Standard and HSE Management System.
  • You will ensure appropriate reporting and investigation of all RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases, and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) reportable events, incidents and HIPo’s (High Potential Near Misses) in your BU, as well as identify corrective actions and track to completion.
  • You will communicate the HSE Policy, HSE Standard and HSE Management System to the appropriate levels within your Business Unit, ensuring all positions are aware of their responsibilities for all HSE requirements.
  • You will undertake site assurance events and raise corrective actions, tracking to completion, to ensure implementation and sustainment against the company HSE Management System.
  • You will prepare and disseminate appropriate HSE reports for the Group Risk & Assurance committee, your Business Unit Senior Leadership Team, line managers and employees.
  • You will ensure CASPER is updated regularly and ensure HSE requirements are completed in a timely manner.

What we're looking for :

  • Circa 5 years’ experience in Health and Safety
  • Experience in Construction, Electrical/Mechanical installation preferred
  • Solid understanding of CDM – Construction Design Management Regulations 2015.
  • Experience in Accident Investigation
  • NEBOSH General or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • CSCS card:
  • Experience in health and safety auditing, risk management, governance and business processes within the construction or outsourcing sector.
  • Ability to provide competent HSE guidance, to all levels.
  • Advanced MS Excel Skills
