We have a very exciting opportunity here at Capita for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our expanding Capita Public Services Growth Team.
This role will sit within the Central Government and will identify, develop, and successfully execute sales, focusing on our Citizen Experience and Digital Business Services propositions.
This is a home-based role with client travel as required.

Our Propositions
The Citizen Experience proposition family is focused on the interfaces between public services and the people they serve. These propositions aim to provide seamless services that are fast, effective, and human-centred experiences at the point of demand and where people need them most. The Digital Business Services proposition family focuses on the core public services systems. It aims to increase productivity using data, technology and operational excellence to deliver secure, smart, efficient and effective services.
Combined, these propositions will deliver complex solutions that transform services for our customers and citizens. Examples of the services we provide are our Contact Centres, Assessment Services, Intelligent Communication, Procurement Services, and Revenue Maximisation, all of which are underpinned by world-class digital and technology services
What you’ll be doing:
- As the Business Development Manager, you will be pivotal in delivering opportunities through to contract signature within the sector and proposition strategy.
- You will work with the relevant market development leads to understand the customer landscape, support generating go-to-market plans, and monitor and track progress against these plans
- You will also work with the proposition team to coordinate activity across the Citizen Experience and Digital Business Services propositions, ranging from quality assurance on collateral to tracking and monitoring proposition plans and actions to ensure clarity and success against challenging timescales
- Utilising market insight, buying patterns and client challenges, engaging and building relationships with our clients, and using wider Government frameworks as the route to market to win new business.
- Your unique selling points will be your ability to understand and navigate the complexities of the Public Sector, aligning those requirements to Capita’s capabilities, and your strategic approach to business development.
What we’re looking for
- You will have extensive experience of business development in the Public Sector and be capable of sustained engagement at senior levels as well as successful sales execution.
- You will be able to demonstrate strong organisational and management experience across a broad portfolio of services & capabilities.
- You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to work under pressure and meet demanding timescales.
- You will be an innovative and strategic thinker - capable of shaping and leading and having strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Proactive, ‘can do’ and collaborative behaviours are a vital part of this role and underpin trust, facilitating the right collective mindset required to make a difference and most importantly allow all parties to thrive in leading the way rather than being led.
- The primary success of the role is business growth, new customer acquisition and client satisfaction.
