You will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all fire risk related matters to Commander British Forces Cyprus (CBF) & Chief Officer Sovereign Base Areas (COSBA) and as requested by United Nations Forces in Cyprus (UNFICYP).
This role is based in Cyprus with regular attendance expected across the sovereign based areas
Job Description
What you’ll be doing:
- Operational performance and delivery of FRMS across the BFC AoR.
- Delivery of Fire Service Operational and Training Policy to ensure provision of an effective and efficient fire & rescue response capability.
- Maintenance regime for Firefighting vehicles and Rescue equipment.
- FRA regime and provision of Fire Safety support and advice.
- Health and Safety at Work Act as applicable to the Fire Service
- Functional Control of Locally Employed Civilian Personnel.
- Functional Control of RAF Fire & Rescue personnel at Akrotiri.
- Management of resources ensuring both operational and financial efficiency.
- Lead, monitor and support people to resolve operational incidents
- Plan implementation of organisational strategy to meet objectives
- Implement organisational strategy
- Lead organisational strategy through effective decision making
- Implement and manage change in organisational activities
- Determine effective use of physical and financial resources
- Select required personnel
- Manage performance of teams and individuals to achieve objectives. EFSM15: Develop teams and individuals to enhance workplace performance

Essential Criteria
- Experience of operating in the role of Group Manager in a Fire and Rescue Service.
- Evidence of appropriate operational and Incident Command experience.
- A sound understanding of the Incident Command Systems (ICS), Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP). ICS level 1 must be evidenced.
- Good understanding of Airfield Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) principles, Air Safety Management System (ASMS) and CFR Air Safety Management Plan (ASMP).
- Good understanding of Defence fire safety policy and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005.
- Evidence, knowledge and understanding of current operational procedures.
- Evidence of thorough knowledge of fire and community safety issues.
- Must meet Operational Fitness Assessment Standards
Post Specific Requirements
- Requirement to provide 24/7 operational cover as part of an incident command team.
- Full, valid and current UK Driving Licence is required.
- A requirement to work flexibly to meet the needs of the Mission within the SBA.
- Commitment to completing all work permit/visa requirements IAW the local arrangements.
- Commitment to engaging with other Governmental bodies associated with the management of Fire & Rescue activities.
