Capita has been recognised by Forbes as one of the top companies for women for the second consecutive year, ranking at number 36 out of 400 on the prestigious list. This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in our workplace and society.

At Capita, we believe that fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected is not just the right thing to do, but it also drives innovation and success. Our diverse and talented workforce, which currently includes over 18,000 women, across the globe, is a cornerstone of our strength. I am particularly proud that we now have a significant female diversity in our succession track to senior leadership roles (52% up from 44% in 2023) and our Executive Committee is composed of over 44% women. This representation at the highest levels of our organisation underscores our dedication to gender equality and sets a powerful example for the entire company.

Equity, diversity, and inclusion are more than just buzzwords for us—they are integral to our culture and operations. We strive to create a workplace where every individual, regardless of their background, can thrive and contribute their unique perspectives. This commitment extends beyond our internal practices to our interactions with clients, partners, and the communities we serve.

Our journey towards greater EDI is ongoing, and we are continually looking for ways to improve. Among the significant range of activities delivered, we are most proud of:

  • our virtual first, hybrid working model that remains an important pillar in providing flexible working solutions for our colleagues and continues to receive a positive response.
  • substantial progress towards our diversity goals including a decrease in our gender pay gap of more than 5% in 2023 compared with 2022
  • our Career Path Framework (CPF) that supports colleagues in creating personalised development journeys aligned to a career trajectory
  • our Moving Ahead Mentoring programme that offers external mentoring opportunities for women and underrepresented colleagues, and provides a platform for new networks and developmental support
  • our signature Reduce Inequality and Strive for Equality (RISE) development programmes that focus on elevating women and black minority ethnic colleagues by offering tailored development, mentorship and support with progression.

Our Employee Network Groups, including Gender and Family Network, have around 12,000 members and are fundamental to our EDI journey.

Programme Director at Capita and a Chair of Gender Employee Network

It’s amazing to see this reflection, at a global scale, of Capita’s workplace for women. There’s a willingness to listen and reflect on where things can be better, and the executive commitment to do something about it. We’re looking forward to supporting the growth of an even more inclusive environment in 2025.

We understand that achieving true equity requires sustained effort and a willingness to challenge the status quo. That’s why we invest in initiatives that support the professional growth of underrepresented groups, promote inclusive leadership, and ensure that our policies and practices are fair and equitable.

Also, as part of our new RB strategy shared earlier this year, we are resetting our culture. Our culture is a critical enabler to ensuring our people can deliver on our objectives and we will be launching a new set of values and behaviours in the coming months to support the culture reset. I want to take this opportunity to thank all our colleagues for their contributions to making Capita a place where diversity is celebrated, and inclusion is a reality. Their dedication and hard work are what make recognitions like this possible.

As we move forward, let’s continue to champion equity, diversity, and inclusion in all that we do. Together, we can build a workplace and a society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
