Capita has been selected by Microsoft to deliver Office 365 and by Google to deliver G-Suite cloud-based solutions to schools across the UK.
This is in support of the Department for Education’s ‘Platform Provisioning Programme’ to fund and deploy digital learning platforms to every school that needs it during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The programme follows the government’s pledge to provide laptops, tablets and boost remote education for vulnerable and disadvantaged young people and to help support schools through the pandemic.
Digital education platforms offer an environment where pupils' learning experience at home can continue as close to ‘normal’ as possible. The platforms are purpose-built for remote teaching and learning in a way that a school website isn’t designed for.
Through these partnerships, Capita will help schools that are not currently on a digital education platform to get set up on either Microsoft Office 365 or Google G-Suite for Education.
Capita will also help schools that are currently using Office 365 or G Suite for Education but are not set up to assign work and communicate with pupils get set up on the relevant platform.
Through these digital platforms, teachers can communicate directly with pupils, set individualised tasks, let pupils work together, and easily give personalised feedback. Both Microsoft and Google platforms offer communications tools including email, instant messaging and videoconferencing. They also provide a range of education resources to support learning.
Capita has over 35 years’ experience in the education sector and supports over 21,000 schools in the UK. Its education expertise will help schools choose the right platform for their needs. Training and support on how schools can make the most of the functionality to enable remote teaching and learning will also be provided.
To get set up on a platform, schools will need to select Capita Education Software as their preferred supplier on the Microsoft form or Entrust Learning Technologies on the Google form.
