Capita plc (Capita) today announces its Local Public Services (LPS) business has secured an extension worth £27.1m over three years to its current contract with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH).

The extension is effective from 2022 and will see Capita continue to deliver a range of key corporate services on CLCH’s behalf. These include performance analytics, procurement, IT, business intelligence, finance, and estates and facilities management.

CLCH is the largest community healthcare organisation in London – over two million people depend on its programmes. Its 3,000 health professionals provide many services, such as rehabilitation and urgent care, in the boroughs of Barnet, Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Merton, Wandsworth and Harrow, as well as the county of Hertfordshire. Capita’s work with CLCH enables front-line health professionals to better focus on their roles and provide care and support to patients.

The contract extension will also see Capita contribute toward CLCH’s broader digital transformation programme which will make the services it delivers more efficient and enable the trust to target resources at areas where there is the greatest patient demand. For example, through the IT service Capita delivers on behalf of CLCH, the company will work with healthcare professionals to improve their digital capability by providing them with new devices, including laptops, which will help them deliver care more efficiently.

The award of the extension follows a significant year in Capita and CLCH’s partnership, with the business providing vital support to the Trust throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. In February 2020, Capita supported CLCH’s organisation of England’s first Covid-19 testing drive-through facility in a community setting. Capita have also helped to carry out deep cleans across multiple sites, supported co-ordination and distribution of PPE equipment, and deployed over 1,000 computers to health professionals who moved to home working.

Capita will continue to utilise its strong experience of digital transformation programmes and delivering corporate services to support CLCH.

Andy Start, CEO Capita Government Services, said: “We are delighted to be extending our contract with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and look forward to driving improvements that will enable front-line health professionals to focus on the care they provide to patients. It is testament to the strength of our partnership with the Trust and our successful track record of delivery that our team has won this new work.”

Notes to editors:

The total IFRS 15 transaction price (order book) for the three-year contract is £27.1m.

This new contract adds to Capita’s Government Services division’s wins in 2021, including the recent Royal Navy and Royal Marines training contract award, entry to the Early Careers Framework, and the Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) programme in Scotland win.
