Capita has secured a four-year agreement to deliver education technology services for schools and local authorities on YPO’s latest framework.

Capita will be the sole supplier on the ‘ICT Managed Service for Education and WPS (000982)’ framework.

This is the first education framework by YPO to consist of a single supplier. Through this framework, Capita will provide schools and public sector establishments with a complete pre-approved ‘one-stop-shop’ to support all their current and future technology needs.

The framework will cover sourcing, procurement, management, installation and maintenance across a range of IT, network, telecommunications software and managed services, including cloud-based ICT services, for schools.

Based in Yorkshire, YPO is one of the UK’s largest public sector buying organisations and is managed by 13 local authorities and has over 70 associate members. YPO is constantly establishing partnerships with more public sector authorities to help achieve efficiency savings for public sector services across the UK.

The approach to have a sole-supplier framework was influenced by YPO stakeholder engagement, after witnessing first-hand the issues schools were facing with rigid, outdated and costly managed-service provisions.

Cost savings, easy integration of systems, and the opportunity to learn from other schools using the same technology were driving factors in creating this agreement. Larger entities such as multi-academy trusts will benefit from less duplication and ultimately reduce waste, save costs and increase efficiency.

As well as providing quick access to Capita’s technology services and support, the framework will reduce procurement time that schools can instead use to focus on the curriculum and teaching.

Robyn Lamport-Rann, category buyer - ICT, YPO, said: "This is the first sole-supplier framework for the education sector, and we believe that Capita is the best partner to take this journey with us, based on the breadth and strength of their education capability and offering.

"Together we will be able to deliver technology strategies that will equip schools with the best IT support that they need. Our shared social values have helped build the foundation for this new framework and this partnership will enable schools to deliver the best learning experience that they can, to their communities."

Schools and local authorities can access the list of services on the framework on the YPO website.
