Hear from Emma, an administrator at Capita, to discover how we help Army candidates from the application phase through to basic training.
I work in the Loading team, where we help candidates pass through the assessment centres and into basic training. Applying to join the Army is a huge commitment, and it can be a long process for them between completing their applications and beginning their training. Our job at Capita is to try and make that process as easy, efficient, and pleasant as possible.
As well as ensuring they’re assessed in an assessment centre best suited to the roles they’re applying for, we also help candidates by booking them onto events, such as “Join the Paras” or “AMETEK”, where they can learn more about the respective units within the Army. Everything we do is candidate focused.
This role is all about building relationships. Though we don’t have much face-to-face contact with candidates, you can build up a real rapport and relationship with both candidates and the recruiters we speak with every day, which I’ve really enjoyed so far.
I arrived at Capita after taking time off to be a stay-at-home mum. I had no idea what it would be like, being back in work after such a long time away. But I needn’t have worried. You’re given all the training you need to really hit the ground running. I work in a brilliant, supportive, and really diverse team – it’s a joy to work with them every day.
In this role, it’s nice knowing – in helping candidates fulfil their ambitions of joining the Army – that your work has a purpose. It doesn’t matter if you’re young and looking for your first role in the world of work, or more experienced – whatever your background or skillset, this role is perfect for anyone with an open mind and a willingness to learn.
