Development management – we positively manage end to end planning and related applications to foster the delivery of sustainable development. We look for solutions rather than problems and work proactively on developments to improve the economic, social and environmental conditions.
Planning enforcement – we process breaches of planning control from initial investigation to making recommendations on an appropriate course of action.
Planning policy – we support the full range of planning policy documents, including local plans and supplementary planning documents; community infrastructure levy charging schedules; local development schemes; annual monitoring reports and statements of community involvement.
Planning validation – our planning validation service helps clients to handle their workload, clear application backlogs and meet service commitments by validating all types of electronic and paper planning applications.

At Capita, we empower you to work in flexible ways. Instead of working full time in an office, you can work from home for the majority of your time. You’ll have an assigned Capita office with access to a hot desk as needed. We operate from the following locations: London Borough of Barnet (our joint venture known as Re), Breckland, Manchester, North Tyneside and Belfast.
Our time in the office will be focused on interactions with our colleagues and clients; and our time working from home allows us to focus, engage virtually and be more productive.
We employ over 100 planning professionals and can deliver planning services to any local authority in the UK from our planning hubs.
Our Planning team has a number of new and emerging service offerings we’re developing, including:
Major Development – our service gives local authorities immediate access to high quality resources to process major planning applications at pace. Our service enables our customers to fill skills gaps to accelerate major planning applications, housing growth and economic regeneration, which in turn increases the council’s revenue.
Accelerated Plan Making – preparing a Local Plan is a complex and time-consuming process. Here at Capita Local Public Service, we have a pool of experience strategic planners ready to help accelerate plan making. We will work through all the stages, from the creation of an updated plan to specially where all that’s needed is a little help.
Consultancy – leading on the provision of planning consultancy services to our public sector clients across Capita Local Public Services, including local authorities, health trusts and education authorities. Services include formulating planning strategies from project conception through to planning consent. Our services include full support to help clients achieve planning policy compliance as far as possible.
