Are you a confident communicator with an eye for detail? Do you enjoy a mix of desk-based work and getting out and about? We’re seeking a Revenues Inspector to join our team in the South Oxfordshire area (Didcot/Thame).

As a Revenues Inspector, you play a crucial role in identifying new properties for both council tax and NNDR (National Non-Domestic Rates).

Company Vehicle is provided as part of this role.

Job Description

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Property Identification: Collaborate with the council tax and business rates teams to identify new builds. Liaise with Building Control and Planning teams to receive lists of new properties.
  • Monitoring and Arrangement: Monitor building works on domestic and non-domestic properties. Arrange for these properties to be subject to council tax or business rates once completed.
  • Valuation Support: Work closely with the valuation team to ensure accurate assessments.
  • Exemptions and Reductions: Assess properties for council tax exemptions and disability reductions.
  • Field Visits: Visit both domestic and non-domestic properties to assess entitlement to empty property exemptions and partly occupied relief.
  • Record Keeping: Update computer records and perform administrative tasks related to your work.
  • Efficiency and Customer Service: Ensure efficient processing of tasks, meet SLAs, and provide prompt and informative service to clients and the public.
  • Collaboration: Raise any issues with your team leader and work collaboratively within the team.

  • Full driving license (60% of the role involves field visits)
  • Strong communication skills
    Ability to create and maintain relationships with other internal teams as well as the clients
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively
