We are actively seeking a new Head of Business Analysis to join us in Capita Public Service.

This varied role has a range of components to it - leadership, capability development and programme delivery.

The Head of Business Analysis will be a member of the Architecture & Analysis Profession's senior leadership team. As a leader, you will be expected to support your team members, develop the capability and work alongside SLT peers to ensure excellent programme outcomes.

As the most senior Business Analyst in Capita Public Service, you will be asked to develop the business analysis capability, working alongside other members of the profession to ensure the most appropriate tools, techniques and methodologies are deployed across our programmes, and team members are given the necessary guidance to be successful.

The Head of Business Analysis will lead business analysis teams on Capita's complex transformational programmes, taking accountability for developing and implementing business requirements, identifying and assessing opportunities to implement innovative solutions, and providing strategic direction to stakeholders within programmes and operations. You will initially be a core part of the Programme Team working on the DWP FAS (Functional Assessment Service) contract.

Capita is delivering the programme across two lots – Lot 2 Midlands and Wales and Lot 5 Northern Ireland. FAS is a new service that will bring together existing assessment services for disabled people and people with health conditions under a single provider in each geographical region. This will make accessing support simpler and easier for some of society’s most vulnerable people. The Head of Business Analysis will lead the BA team delivering IT systems integration and the full suite of accompanying business processes.

Job Description

What you'll be doing :

  • Co-ordinate requirement activities, their validation and sign-off ensuring that the needs of the key stakeholders are articulated determining the need and value of performing the activity based on the context.
  • Process Modelling - Approval of business process modelling and solutions.
  • Business Analysis - Providing leadership around business analysis best practice, ways of working and frameworks ensuring all Business Analysts deliver the professional standards expected across the business analysis practice. Accountable for the adherence by the Business Analyst team to the Programmes quality standards to achieve best practice. Working with the other professions to ensure joined up departmental standards and approaches to project and programme delivery.
  • Facilitation - Liaise with key client stakeholders, service delivery managers, programme / project managers, business architects, users, change and technical teams to identify, design and support the implementation of efficient and effective solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management and Engagement - Partner with key stakeholders to maintain a thorough understanding of their business areas and change programmes. Build relationship across functional departments and build networks of established connections. Manage and resolve any issues raised around the performance or capability of proposed solutions and their impact on service delivery.
  • Resources - Develop and implement best practices for business analysis across the organisation. Scoping and planning the Business Analysis resource and effort across the department and programme. Balance priorities and demands with Senior stakeholders to coordinate Business Analysis activity across complex projects / programmes. Lead and represent Capita externally to develop the professional Business Analyst quality framework.
  • Performance Management - Performance management and leadership of Business Analysis project teams, ensuring high performance and that targets are achieved. Responsible for overseeing the development of business analysts and their career development.

What we're looking for :

  • Proven experience in leading a team of business analysts in a complex organisation or programme.
  • Outstanding leadership skills with experience managing and developing individuals and teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills Ability to engage at CTO, CEO, CIO level.
  • Can lead presentations confidently and effectively communicating with tact and diplomacy on sensitive issues.
  • Are comfortable leading business analyst teams across all areas of an operating model, delegating responsibility but retaining accountability.
  • Excellent awareness of the merits and application of new BA & BPR methodologies and emerging industry / professional BA trends
