Lead the Fight Against Financial Crime - WANTED: Head of Financial Crime Prevention

We have an exciting new role at Capita where you’ll be responsible for Capita’s Financial Crime (FC) activity, conducted through the leadership and management of Financial Crime guidance and prevention.

As the Head of Financial Crime Prevention, you’ll be the driving force of financial crime activities, the purpose of the role is to maximise FC prevention success and outcomes, minimise risk and liability and effectively facilitate management decision-making. You will be managing the Financial Crime Prevention team.

The role is home based, with occasional travel for team meetings.

Interested candidates need to have relevant and demonstrable experience in the following:

• An excellent understanding of relevant financial crime legislation and its application including, but not limited to ML Regulations, Criminal Finances Act, the Fraud Act, Bribery Act, Sanctions

• Experience in writing policy, sanctions screening solutions, driving behaviours across senior leaders and the business

• Team management

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing, maintaining and overseeing effective Financial Crime guidance and prevention processes across Capita and its jurisdictions.
  • Managing regulatory relationships and communications and oversees regulatory reporting.
  • Working closely with the Directors, function leads, internal audit and control teams to proactively identify and address financial crime risks in the company, owning the Financial Crime Risk Assessment processes across the company.
  • Undertaking/managing projects, including global risk projects and lead management of significant financial crime/risk and compliance issues where required
  • Developing and providing training to staff in relation to Financial Crime risks within the business.
  • Managing, maintaining and overseeing effective Financial Crime support and oversight to acquisitions, bids, disposals and assist the business through advice on mitigating actions.
  • Managing the Financial Crime Prevention team, providing line management through coaching, and day to day guidance to deliver the objectives of the company and team.
  • Providing strategic advice and challenge at Executive and senior management level to promote the embedding of effective Financial Crime governance and adherence to policies.
  • Developing Capita's Financial Crime policy, bringing expertise to interpret regulations and requirements from across Capita's jurisdictions to set the standard in ABC, Sanctions, Prevention of Tax Evasion, Money Laundering, and Fraud.

Requirements:

  • Education to degree level desirable, or by experience. Postgraduate and/or industry financial crime qualifications are desirable
  • An excellent understanding of relevant financial crime legislation and its application (including, but not limited to ML Regulations, Criminal Finances Act, the Fraud Act, Bribery Act)
  • Experience in developing financial crime policy and procedures and a detailed knowledge of the general tools and techniques of financial crime management
  • General risk management knowledge and experience – knowledge of and experience with using fundamental risk management concepts and methodologies
  • A knowledge of the key business functions (e.g. operations, sales, marketing, finance, corporate governance) and an understanding of the key financial crime risks and controls in these areas
  • Team management
